Adrian

Director and Founder

Adrian is a practising UK Solicitor and the joint founder and a director of Hall Taylor Law. He has over 32 years of experience in dispute resolution and litigation, where he has a strong track record of delivering the results his clients need when conflict resolution advice is required across all types of disputes between two or more parties.

Contract disputes and disagreements in business (and private life) can escalate rapidly into deeply held grievances between disputing parties, which can be extremely costly and damaging mentally to those involved. Adrian adopts a commercial and pragmatic approach in such matters and enjoys working closely with clients to resolve a dispute without having to go to court and resort to litigation.

Adrian is an expert in the dispute resolution process

Adrian has particular experience in commercial dispute resolution, including contractual disputes and internal disputes within a company between directors and/or shareholders and in contentious probate matters.  Adrian often represents beneficiaries and claimants in claims brought under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and acts for clients involved in trust disputes or in cases involving the validity of a Will.

Adrian is experienced in advising on a wide range of disputes for businesses and individuals and in settling disputes he regularly uses Alternative Dispute Resolution methods, which include: direct negotiations, mediation services, neutral evaluation and the arbitration process. In particular, Adrian is an advocate of mediation and he has saved many clients significant legal costs by referring disputes to mediation at an early stage, achieving a settlement out of court (often in excess of clients’ expectations) before costs have escalated and minimising disruption that litigation can cause to people’s lives.

Representing clients on both sides of the landlord and tenant divide, Adrian resolves disputes and has advised in cases including service charge disputes, recovery of possession, dilapidation claims, breach of covenant and break clauses.

Adrian has also acted for clients in successfully bringing claims for misrepresentation following the purchase of their home where the seller has given false, incorrect or misleading information to the buyers about the property during the conveyancing process.

Adrian often represents clients involved in contentious insolvency matters including Insolvency Practitioners, creditors, debtors, directors and other stakeholders and often involving substantial sums of money, for example, transactions at an undervalue, preference claims, reservation of title and claims against directors for breach of fiduciary duties.

Carol

Director and Founder

Carol is a practising UK solicitor and is the joint founder and a director of Hall Taylor Law. Carol has over 25 years of commercial and business-law experience working in senior roles in financial institutions, private practice and in industry. She has advised clients in a wide range of industries for companies of all sizes, from small business owners to larger corporations, as well as private individuals.

Carol is our Company Commercial law specialist.

Carol has extensive experience advising on a wide range of commercial and business agreements, including agency and distribution agreements, supply and purchase agreements, advice on terms and conditions and general advice on General Data Protection and Regulation (GDPR) issues.

Carol also advises on shareholder agreements, joint venture and collaboration agreements and partnership agreements, using her expertise and experience to ensure that every written agreement is valid, legally binding and enforceable. The last point regarding enforceability is particularly important, as all too often she sees elements of agreements and contracts which whilst being legally correct are, in practice, unenforceable.

Carol’s in-house experience means that she is able to advise businesses in a role typically provided by in-house counsel, in providing guidance and advice on strategic activities and on contract drafting for all types of legal contracts between two or more parties, including negotiations (and sometimes bargaining!), to ensure that business and commercial contracts are not only legally enforceable and lawful but are also mutual agreements that embody good faith for the benefit of all parties.

Carol’s substantial commercial and business experience means that she understands that it is imperative that clients have clear, pragmatic and commercial advice, which is underpinned by an understanding of the strategic priorities and objectives of their businesses. Carol is able to integrate seamlessly into your business and to work closely and collaboratively with all members of your team to achieve your desired outcomes. She is fully aware that building a strong business relationship is always the best way forward when it comes to achieving the best results.
